Ingredients
- For the Pound Cake:
- 3 c All Purpose Flour
- 2 c Granulated Sugar
- 1 ¼ c Unsalted Butter - room temperature 2 ½ sticks
- 5 Large Eggs
- 1 c Buttermilk
- ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 2 tsps Vanilla Extract
- For the Brown sugar mixture:
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 c Light Brown Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- ¼ c Unsalted Butter
- For the Icing:
- 2 c Powdered Sugar
- 2 tbsps Unsalted Butter
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 3-4 tbsps Whole Milk
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ⅛ - ½ teaspoon Cinnamon
Instructions
1. Create the Brown Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, blend together 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 cup of brown sugar, ¼ cup of butter, and 1 tablespoon of honey.
Stir until everything is well combined, then set it aside while we prepare the cake batter. Set your oven to 325°F and get ready to bake.
2. Mix the Cake Batter: Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together, then set aside.
In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar with a mixer for about 5 minutes until fluffy. Add the vanilla.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk, starting and finishing with the flour.
3. Prepare the Bundt Pan: Coat a 12-cup bundt pan with non-stick spray. Pour in half of the cake batter and spread it evenly.
Spoon the brown sugar mixture on top and gently swirl it into the batter. Now, pour the remaining batter on top and smooth the surface.
4. Bake the Cake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 20 minutes before turning it out onto a cooling rack. Allow it to cool completely before moving on to the icing.
5. Make the Icing: In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, softened butter, honey, vanilla extract, milk, salt, and a pinch of cinnamon. Use a mixer to blend until smooth and creamy.
6. Decorate and Serve: Once the cake has cooled, drizzle or spread the icing over the top. Let it sit for a few minutes to set, then slice, serve, and enjoy!
From the first bite to the last, this Honey Bun Pound Cake is a perfect treat, packed with layers of flavor. It’s a perfect way to make any to satisfy your sweet cravings.
