  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 loaf Texas Toast
  • 1 1/2 cup Half and Half
  • 5 eggs
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Make the Caramel Base:
In a small pot, melt together the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, stirring until it’s smooth and gooey. Pour this delicious mixture into a large jelly roll pan and spread it out evenly.

Arrange slices of bread over the caramel mixture, making sure the entire pan is covered.

3. Prepare the Custard:
In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, half & half, salt, and vanilla until well combined. Spoon this mixture evenly over the bread slices.

4. Let It Soak:
Cover the pan and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 3-4 hours) to let all that custardy goodness soak into the bread.

5. Bake to Perfection:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the dish, uncovered, for about 30 minutes, until it’s golden brown and bubbling.
