Ingredients
- 1 chocolate chip cookie crust
- 1 (1.5 quart) container chocolate ice cream
- 1 (1.5 quart) container chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream
- 1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip, thawed and divided
- ¾ cup mini chocolate chips
- mini chocolate chip cookies
Instructions
1. Crust Time: Start by making your pie crust and pressing it nice and evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan lined with parchment paper.
Once it’s all snug in there, pop it in the fridge to chill out while you work your magic.
2. Chocolate Ice Cream Layer: Grab your chocolate ice cream and let it hang out on the counter for 15-20 minutes, just until it’s soft enough to stir.
Once it’s ready, spread that creamy goodness all over the cookie crust, then get it back into the freezer to firm up.
3. Cookie Dough Ice Cream Layer: Time for round two! Let the cookie dough ice cream sit out for 15-20 minutes, just like the chocolate.
Once softened, spread it over the chocolate layer. It’s already looking delicious, right?
4. Top It Off: Spread a glorious 2 cups of Cool Whip over the top of your ice cream layers. If you want, you can also add some chocolate chips inside and on the top of the cake.
Then, freeze the whole thing for at least 4 hours (overnight is even better if you can resist sneaking a taste).
5. Time to Free the Cake: When you’re ready to unveil your masterpiece, run a knife dipped in hot water around the edges of the cake to loosen it from the pan.
You’ll need to reheat that knife a few times. Once free, open up the springform pan and gently lift the cake out.
6. Ditch the Parchment: While you’ve got the cake lifted, carefully peel off the parchment paper, then transfer the cake to a freezer-safe plate.
7. Decorate Like a Pro: Pipe some extra Cool Whip around the edges of the cake and place mini cookies along the border. It’s starting to look like a showstopper now!
8. Finishing Touch: Sprinkle some chocolate chips right in the center of the cake.
Then, store your frozen creation in a covered container in the freezer until it’s time to serve up some sweet, icy slices!
This Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Cake is a perfect dessert for birthday parties that will satisfy just about anyone’s sweet tooth.
